'the Source: Nornes; Urd, Verdandi, & Skuld'

This is the weaving, completed; attached to hawthorn, and beautifully framed up by Carl Hardwick, based at Westgate Studios.
The thread that creates the pattern is hand dyed.
It's ready for the exhibition on Wednesday.
More than I am!
Stitches to complete yet!

'came in through the bathroom window......'

The twisted and distorted view out of the bathroom window at work! Overlooking the grounds of the Quaker meeting house. And beyond are the old Almshouses; with Morrison's the brick tower in the far distance.
The Quaker garden is full of clumps of snowdrops. Lovely to see.
The trees are bare now; but last May/June, here is how one of them looked. Thick hawthorn blossoms. I can hardly wait for the flowers to bloom this year! Though they might not return so thick; the trees have been hacked back, quite drastically.

doings........

This weekend is the Glastonbury festival. So I've been listening to it on Radio6, and having a peek at the BBC iplayer. I've come to the conclusion that the laptop speakers aren't adequate for the noise I want to listen to....they're not LOUD enough! Necessitates a trip to the pooter shop for a pair I think. Sadly the ones I've been using on my old computer don't have the right connection. Such is the pace of technological change!
Above is a photo of a splendid Hawthorn tree that grows in the grounds of the Quaker building in Wakefield. Absolutely awash with blossom earlier in the year...though later than usual. The late spring brought an abundance of blossom everywhere. My apple tree was beautiful; and I now have lots of apples coming through. Nice to see.
I've come across an artist called Sharon Etgar, in Israel. She does some gorgeous stitch works on paper. She can be found here
Have a look on her website to see more of what she does.

Beacons Festival

Last weekend I went to Beacons Festival.
Listened to music; drank beer; ate food; enjoyed the sun....when it shone! And tried to avoid the rain!
On the Saturday, it was glorious weather. The sky was blue; the clouds were little fluffy ones!
The sunset over the fields, and the hawthorn tree, was spectacular.
For 3 days, I sat in a field, camped up in Blanche, and chilled. Bliss!
And after Beacons? I drove off to explore North Yorkshire, and look for Star Carr!
