samples.......

Fragment of one of my small samplers. Top right, some tweed from my dad; top left black cotton discharged with bleach; bottom; a lovely old hankerchief which has original embroidery on it that I've embellished. It was put into an avocado, and put into the compost heap last year. The blotches come from that process. This is one more work in progress........

  1. This looks very interesting, looking forward to seeing the whole piece. Like the compost dyeing I haven't tried that yet. From your last post I collect coffee stirrers as well like your idea on how to use them.

  2. I hang onto loads of rubbish to see if I can find a use for it! The compost/avocado thing works best with silk, it has to be said. I got a beautiful yellow/browny result on silk. Tie some string round your avocado though, so you can hoik it out when you want to remove it!
